Bike Stolen?

Everyone has had a bike stolen but how many of us actually find the bikes or get to confront the thieves. Someone owned this piece of shit bike and made a big deal about finding it. Read it and get a laugh or send a message cause he left an email to respond to...

Dave! Did not know you even had a blog, and I find out through a link from the Bike Snob.

I still can't hang with the word "nolita". It will always be Little Italy to me, where the bread loaves are safe on the stoop, let alone a locked bike (though maybe I am over-romanticizing just a little).

Peace,
Jim

I always hope I'll find my missing Jamis somewhere in the city.

You could add a few extra locks on the bike along with the note, it might be more effective.

If I was that guy, I would've just added my own U-lock to the bike. Just try taking the bike NOW, Mr Thief!!

You gotta steal it back, not leave a note. I found my friend's stolen bike twice. First time I stole the front wheel in an attempt to buy some time. No luck. Found it a week later, got a bolt cutter, and presto! Recovered bike. All in broad daylight.

Hey, it's upsetting to have even a piece of shit stolen if that is your main mode of transportation.

I hope the author of the note slapped a U-lock or two on the bike. That way it won't disappear again, and the "new owner" is forced to either abandon the bike or to confront the messenger. In the meantime, the note-writer(if he/she reported the bike stolen) can follow up with the cops and get them to impound the bike and then return it.
